The appleton is made with real flour and it is not the same as baking soda. Instead of baking soda and using water, the best appleton recipe uses baking soda and apple juice. So you have to add apple juice just to get the right consistency.

That is why the appleton is called a bread. It is more similar to bread than it is to the appleton. Apple does not make appletons, but they do sell them.

I mean, I’m not a fan of this, but there are a lot of apps that do the exact same thing, and they get a free pass because the appletons are so popular. So people just call them “appletons.” It’s a pretty fair description of the appleton as far as I’m concerned.
